THERE was no shortage of competition in the bidding last week at the Challara Poll Merino stud on-property ram sale at Badgingarra, where prices hit a top of $3800. In fact values were up on all fronts for the stud, with despite one less ram selling under the hammer in comparison to last year, the top price, gross and average were all solid increases year-on-year.
“We had our eye on the Challara genetics back when we had Merinos years ago and I’ve been happy with what I’ve seen since then.” Mr Munns, Beason
The 2016 sale gross for Challara was $154,100 and the 2016 average was $1125, although this year bidders saw the gross value rise by more than $22,000 to be $176,850 and the average price per head rose to $1300, up $175 on 2016.
